What we do

CFAASP (Canadian Feedlot Antimicrobial Use (AMU) and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Surveillance Program) is a national surveillance program that collects data and monitors trends in antimicrobial use in feedlot cattle and antimicrobial resistance in bovine respiratory pathogens and enteric bacteria. AMU/AMR Surveillance in Canada’s beef industry supports a One Health Approach to antimicrobial stewardship.

We Share our Results

CFAASP conducts AMU/AMR surveillance research in finishing feedlots across Canada and shares the results with the beef industry, feedlot producers and veterinarians, and other stakeholders, such as the Public Health Agency of Canada.  Results are shared through reports, podcasts, and infographics/fact sheets to protect cattle and human health by promoting prudent use of antimicrobials to preserve their effectiveness and availability.
